Agritourism in Italy

Agritourism is basically any agriculturally-based activity or operation that draws in visitors from other places. This can involve farms, ranches, corn mazes, wineries or feeding and petting zoos. Agritourism in Italy is a very productive source of income to many throughout the country. With the wide variety of diverse regions and environments in Italy, there are many opportunities to take advantage of the countryside by incorporating some of these activities into a vacation in the different scenic regions of the country.

Two primary sources of agritourism are its vast acreage of ideal wine country with thousands of great wineries and a practice in the region known as farm stays, in which tourists can stay at an authentic Italian farm that is often converted to a bed and breakfast-style environment. Many people flock to the various wine regions of the country each year, as Italy is known to produce many of the world's top wines. Agritourism in Italy is largely comprised of winery-based tourism and farm stays.
